Job Description & Responsibilities:

The Product Development Manager (PDM) will be responsible for delivering new high quality Home Networking products on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for managing the product life cycle during the development, validation, release, deployment phases
  • Work closely with Product Line Managers to understand product requirements and ensure requirements are met and in-line with business and product objectives
  • Lead cross functional project teams within marketing, hardware and software engineering, operations/manufacturing, and professional services/sales
  • Create detailed project plan for the design, development and release/delivery phases of a new product introduction, ensuring program is properly resourced
  • Identify, track and drive closure on all project actions, issues, and risks. Work with cross functional teams to develop risk mitigation plans and strategies
  • Communicate weekly status reports to key stake holders. Abstract key milestones, critical path activities, and program dependencies to provide oversight and control into program.
  • Participate in prioritization and scheduling activities across multiple programs
  • Manage beta and pilot programs with early product samples
  • Provide Product Line Manager with feedback on product roadmap and lessons learned during new product introduction
  • This position may perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Expert knowledge in program and project management methodologies
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software development principles
  • In-depth understanding of Broadband and Home Networking technologies, market realities and trends, awareness of industry
  • Strong communication and verbal presentation skills
  • Strong technical and marketing written skills
  • Self-motivation, ability to work in dynamic environment and organize the team towards the project goals
  • Familiar with TL-9000 process and procedures


Education and Work Experience:
  • Must have Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, MBA Preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in program management and product delivery
  • Must have specific experience in managing telecommunications hardware products; DSL and/or broadband connectivity products (Cable, Fiber/PON); IP routing products and QoS; ATM; Wireless AP products; IP based services delivery; Voice over IP
  • Preferred Project Management Professional (PMP) certified
