Job Description:

Dendreon is seeking a Medical Director (or Senior Medical Director) to provide strategic and operational direction for the development, execution and maintenance of cancer immunotherapy clinical trials and the interpretation of the clinical data collected. The successful candidate should have excellent communication and team leadership skills, and a track record working in a cross-functional collaborative environment.

General Summary:
  • Provides strategic and operational direction for the development, execution and maintenance of cancer immunotherapy clinical trials and the interpretation of the clinical data collected.
  • Works closely with clinical investigators and Dendreon Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSLs) to develop clinical protocols as well as translational research to accompany them.
  • Collaborates with the Dendreon product development team to develop strategies for optimizing the immunologic activity of autologous immunotherapy products and to investigate these through clinical trials.
  • Evaluates immunotherapy assets for license or acquisition.
  • Participates in clinical development teams responsible for label expansion studies, as well as clinical development plans for new immunotherapy targets.
  • Interacts with and makes presentations to FDA and other regulatory authorities, investigators, medical groups, vendors and Dendreon personnel.
  • Drives project risk analysis and develops solutions to a variety of complex problems.
  • Strategizes with other departments during planning and process improvement activities to ensure timely completion of company-wide operational objectives and milestones.

  • Job Requirements:
  • Advanced healthcare degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D.).
  • Typically a minimum of 10 years clinical experience in oncology and immunotherapy, with 3 or more years related experience in cGMP/FDA regulated industry.
  • Typically a minimum of 5 years experience managing supervisory personnel and contributing toward the development of department strategy.
  • Typically a minimum of 5 years experience in translational or laboratory research; cancer and/or immunology highly desirable.
  • Experience in developing and making formal presentations to executive management.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
